What are we baking?
All of our loaves are hand made with natural leaven. We love the flavor profile of naturally leavened breads over store bought yeast and we think you will too. That said, there can be some variation between batches. We actually think that's a lot of fun.
Sometimes we get loaves that are super airy and full of pockets. Sometimes we get a tighter crumb that's great for sandwiches. Cutting open each loaf is like opening a present and getting that burst of surprise at what's inside. It's one of our favorite parts of baking bread and we hope you enjoy it too. What we can promise is that each loaf will taste really good.
We use some store bought flour and some we mill ourselves. We love experimenting with new ingredients and adjusting ratios in old favorites. The loaves below are some that we consistently make, but make sure you follow us on Instagram @breaducators to see all of our latest and greatest creations.
Back to Basics $8.00
Like the ABC's and 2+2, this is our basic loaf. Made with a mix of white and whole wheat flour, it's a comforting favorite we always find ourselves coming back to. Great as toast, dipped in olive oil, or just on it's own, this is literally our bread and butter.
Four Ryes $10.00
This is for all our vision impaired folks (like Andy!) who want to reclaim the name four eyes. No longer an insult, this is now your bread. Our marbled rye is made with a mix of white and rye flours. We add a touch of molasses, cocoa powder, and caraway seeds in the dark half of the loaf. Delicious on its own, but next level on a reuben.
Health Class Whole Wheat $10.00
Remember the food pyramid? Neither do we. But we do remember you were supposed to eat a LOT of grains. This loaf gets you an A+ in grains. We are always playing with new grains in this loaf - hard winter wheat, Einkorn, Emmer, Kamut, and whatever else we can find. Our favorite way to eat these flavor packed slices is slathered in butter and honey.
Passing Period Polenta $10.00
Do you remember the rush of excitement when every kid in school streamed into the halls after class? That's the rush of flavor that's packed into this loaf. We start with our basic loaf, then mix in cooked polenta, toasted pepitas, and rosemary. Eating a slice of this makes you wonder if you are eating bread or a savory custard. Just don't get slammed into any lockers, ok?
TOP of the Class $10.00
This loaf is for all of you who signed up for AP Euro History and still kept that sparkling clean GPA. We took our basic loaf and added Turmeric, dried Onion, and Poppy seeds. You can stop studying now, because there is no way you will get to the TOP of the class with this loaf around.
Do you have a special request for a whole bunch of loaves? Email us [breaducators@gmail.com] and we'll see what we can do.
For those of you who've had other loaves from us, please know that as a Cottage Foods business cooking out of a non-commercial kitchen, there are certain ingredients we are not allowed to use. It sucks. We know. We also want to make sure we're following regulations because they do help people avoid getting sick. When our classroom days are over, maybe we'll open a real bakery and can bake you that sriracha cheddar bread we all love. Until then, we're really sorry, but this is what we've got.
